Child and Spousal Support

Ohio Child Support and Spousal Support Lawyer

While divorce can be emotionally damaging to all parties, non-emotional issues also need to be addressed, including the financial implications. I assist my clients in reaching fair settlements for spousal and child support and for modification of arrangements as needed.

Spousal Maintenance

Alimony provides support and maintenance and can be awarded to either spouse. Appropriate and reasonable support is determined by many factors, including earning ability, lost income, education of the parties, and assets and liabilities.

Child Support

Child support is based on both parents' gross earnings, along with expenses related to day care, health insurance, and other expenses paid for other children. I pride myself in finding solutions so both parties can move on with their lives. Please know that once the child support agreement has been approved by the court, failure to pay is simply not an option. Chronic non-payment could result in felony charges against the party failing to provide support.

Child and Spousal Support Modifications

In the years following divorce, events and circumstances change and can affect child support arrangements. One of the parties may have lost a job, secured a new job, or developed severe health issues. As a family law attorney, I have handled many post-decree modifications based on a variety of situations.

Collaborative Law

Financial matters can become contentious. My goal is to find solutions. Collaborative law provides the option of an open and honest setting where communication flows more freely than it would in a courtroom. Children are not dragged into the process to testify and peaceful, post-marital relationships are promoted. Do not allow money to make your divorce a bitter war. As a lawyer who practices and believes in collaborative law, I will educate you on the option and encourage you to explore a way of resolving your disputes in a manner that best suits your needs.
